Finally picked up an
Xbox 360 Elite, and I'm wireless!
I'm on Xbox Live, and my GamerTag is
"JFarside". That's
my actual "GamerCard" above, so you can
see what I've been up to!
Xbox Live Arcade: Schizoid,
Puzzle Quest, Bomberman Live, and others
Finishing soon...
Overlord
Why yes, it is a tiny bit like
Pikmin, but with an evil twist - you get
to control an army of minions (think
multi-colored gremlins): reds
throw fireballs, blues can swim, and
greens are immune to poison.
Funky, funny, and really fun! And
of course, there's some multi-player, so
go find it in a bargain bin!
Rock Band (and Guitar Hero II)
Who knew that a lounge musician could
have so much fun rockin' out?
Everyone I know is coming over to play
this - even Shelly will pick up a
guitar! Grab three friends and
come chill out in my living room - to
Nirvana, Weezer, and the Red Hot Chili
Peppers...
MULTI-PLAYER: Call Of Duty 4 /
Halo 3 / Gears Of War
Three big ol' shooters - I've
finished the single-player on COD4
(stuck on the other two - anybody wanna
help me push through to the end?), but I
still like a little multi-player mayhem
from time to time. Especially with
in-game voice chat! (thus the
smack may fly)
Computer Games
(Games For Windows)
I have my
Wireless Home Network set up!
I have Shelly's computer and mine in one
room. Come over and play!
(bring games, bring a laptop - bring
several hours to kill)
World Of WarCraft
MMORPG: Massively Multiplayer
Online Role-Playing Game. I spent
months online (Thunderlord server,
playing a Tauren shaman named "Jhonarr"),
and I had way too much fun
stomping across the Kalimdor
countryside. Flippin' fantastic.
Now I've switched sides - I'm playing a
Dwarf Paladin (Nazjatar server) along
with my buddies David and Jayme.
Come join the Alliance!
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Oh my. Talk about a time-sucker
- I'm over 100 hours into this amazing
single-player RPG, and I've barely
scratched the surface of the main quest.
But it's beautiful, it's interesting,
it's fun to grow my character... really,
I didn't play anything else for six
months.
Far Cry
Even though I'm spending a lot of
time on the 360 right now, I still want
to finish a couple shooters on the PC -
Far Cry, Painkiller, and the upcoming
Half-Life 2: Episode Two are all on my
list.
Nintendo DS
All Zelda, all the
time...
The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom
Hourglass
Wow, what a perfect little game!
I loved "Windwaker", so the art style
and storyline continue perfectly.
And the touch screen actually works
really well as an interface.
Five-minute fun nuggets!
New Super Mario Bros.
I've been through the main levels
once, now I just need to go back and
find all the secret stuff...
Tetris DS
Perfect 5-minutes-to-kill game.
Lots of cool new modes, including
"Tetris Push" and "Tetris Touch"
Nintendo Gamecube
This console's all but
gathering dust - but Lego Star Wars is
still a great party game, and I'll
eventually be getting "The Legend Of
Zelda - Twilight Princess".
Lego Star Wars II: The Original
Trilogy
Playing through the original trilogy
as a bunch of Lego guys, especially with
a friend sitting next to you, is the
best experience I've had with the
GameCube in the last year.
Exploding droids never gets old.
And the Lego humor (Stormtroopers in a
hot tub?) adds yet another layer of fun.
Brett's gotten much farther in this than
I have - maybe because I haven't turned
on my GameCube in a year...
Pikmin
Another game that I've returned to
after a few years away, and had a
blast finishing. If you're
interested in an unusual strategy title
with a dark, Tim-Burton-esque world, try
this.
Resident Evil 4
After
finishing Metroid Prime with its
automatic targeting, it is very
refreshing to have to manually aim my
pistol at those zombies' heads!
Creepy, atmospheric,
adrenaline-pumping... and scary as
hell. Literally.
Update: I have grown tremendously disappointed with this
game. About half-way through, the
level design just went in the toilet.
Like a high-schooler did it. Ecch....
Second Update: Finished the game!
And my disappointment was short-lived -
there was only one section that seemed
truly shoddy, but it got much
better by the end. Slick and
scary!
Even
more info!
I have a comprehensive list of
everything I'm playing posted on
GameSpot. I maintain this page
regularly, a lot more regularly than I maintain
this one. Plus, there's more screenshots,
demos, and reviews than I could ever post here.
The link leads you to my main profile page, so
click "Games" and then "Now Playing" for what's
currently keeping me up late at night.
(and look under the "Wish List" tab if there
happens to be a gift-giving occasion coming
up....) If you sign up for a free GameSpot
membership, you can make your own wish lists,
and send me private messages! (add "JFarside"
to your friends list)
